MC
Co-founder & CEO
Maya Chen
Maya spent five years at Stripe building money-movement products, including work on instant payouts to marketplace sellers. She then led payroll at Gusto, where she saw the same gap from the other side: platforms want to pay people faster, but the licensing, ledger and fraud work behind that is a multi-year build most teams can't justify. She started Tempo to make that infrastructure something any platform could plug into instead of build. She holds a computer science degree from UC Berkeley. At Tempo she sets product direction and owns the platform partnerships that bring new workforces onto the network.

Co-founder & CTO
Daniel Okafor
Daniel built card-issuing and ledger infrastructure at Marqeta for four years, the systems that track every authorization and settlement in real time for some of the largest fintech programs in the country. Before that he worked on Plaid's core data infrastructure. He met Maya through a mutual investor and spent a weekend sketching what a real-time earned-wage ledger would need to look like to run at platform scale without the reconciliation lag most EWA products carry. He holds a masters in computer science from Georgia Tech. At Tempo he owns the ledger, the risk and funding engine, and keeps instant settlement reliable as volume grows.

Slide 5 - Founder Bio: Priya Raman (LAVisions layout)layout: product_split · 16:9

Head of Risk & Compliance
Priya Raman
Priya ran money-transmitter licensing and bank partnership compliance at Cross River Bank for six years, working directly with state regulators to bring embedded finance programs to market across all 50 states. She joined Tempo as employee three to build the compliance function before the product needed it, not after. She holds the full state-by-state licence map that lets any platform go live on Tempo without touching regulated money movement itself. She holds a JD from Fordham and is a certified anti-money-laundering specialist. At Tempo she owns licensing, KYC and AML, and the settlement relationships that keep worker funds safe.

Slide 6 - Mission & Vision (LAVisions layout)layout: mission_vision · 16:9
mission
put earned pay back on the day it's earned
Tempo exists because 78 million hourly workers in the US earn their pay today and wait two weeks to get it, a gap that pushes many of them into payday loans and overdraft fees. We built the licences, the ledger and the risk engine so any platform can offer instant, earned pay inside its own app in weeks, not years, without becoming a money-transmitter itself.
vision
the financial operating system for the hourly workforce
In five years we want every major gig, staffing and shift-work platform running its pay on Tempo, the way most platforms already run their card processing on someone else's rails. Instant pay is the wedge. Savings, credit-building and financial wellness follow, so the same workers who get paid faster on Tempo also build a financial foothold for the first time.

Slide 7 - Next Hires (LAVisions layout)layout: next_hires · 16:9
next hires
the five roles we're hiring next
01
Senior Backend Engineer, Ledger
Daniel owns the ledger today. As active workers scale past 100,000 we need a second senior engineer to keep real-time settlement fast and correct under that load.
02
Head of Partnerships
Platform integrations have been founder-led so far. We need someone to build repeatable partnerships with WFM systems and payroll processors ahead of our next 100 platforms.
03
State Licensing Counsel
Priya holds the licence map today. As we extend coverage and lay UK groundwork we need dedicated counsel so licensing doesn't bottleneck on one person.
04
Risk & Underwriting Analyst
Tempo fronts the float on every advance. As volume climbs toward Series B scale we need a dedicated analyst pricing risk per worker and per platform.
05
Product Designer, Tempo Card
The Tempo Card is our next revenue line. We want a dedicated designer to own the worker-facing card experience as it moves from beta to general availability.
